Healthy, Safe and Well: A strategic health plan for children, young people and families 2014-24
NSW Kids and Families have developed a statewide strategic health plan - Healthy, Safe and Well: A Strategic Health Plan for Children, Young People and Families 2014-24. This Plan is the start of a 10-year journey to create a truly connected and responsive health system providing world-class care for children, young people and families in NSW, a task we can only achieve by working together.
The Plan provides a comprehensive planning, service and policy roadmap for NSW Health from preconception to 24 years of age, addressing the health of women and their partners during pregnancy, babies, children, young people in the context of their families and communities.
The Plan will provide direction to NSW Health entities and guide the collective impact of our partnerships with government and non-government organisations that have a shared responsibility for promoting the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families.
Centrally, NSW Kids and Families will lead on progressing the strategies contained within this Plan and monitoring the impact of actions taken over time.
There is also a simple overview of Healthy, Safe and Well in the Why Children Matter brochure.
NSW Kids and Families Council and implementation of Healthy, Safe and Well
The NSW Kids and Families Council was established in October 2015. The Council members have the responsibility of functioning as an interface between their respective organisations and the NSW Kids and Families and other Health organisations represented on the Council.
The key role of the Council is to guide NSW Kids and Families on the implementation of Healthy, Safe and Well across all NSW Health organisations and across NSW.
